Why do you believe what other people tell you?

I don't believe "everything" I am told, but I am trusting enough to believe something if it sounds plausible. For instance, if someone came up to me and told me he was an alien from another planet I would find that rather difficult to believe... but if that same person told me he portayed an alien in a TV show, I may believe him.
