Ok ..so this is your first step asking the question ....very proud of you for that.
1) You need to go to the department of Unemployment and traing and sign up for your benifits. You will only qualify if you have worked enough to recieve the benifits they can also help you get a job.
2) Your girlfriend needs to go WIC and apply for that ( They will give her milk, juice, eggs, cerial, peanut butter and cheese) to make sure the growing baby and her get a good start.
3)Then she needs to go to the local Path office (welfare) and apply for what your state has to offer. She will even get medical coverage. You can sign up to and they will give you what you might qualify for.
4) The welfare office may even offer job training programs or offer to send you to college
5)You need to go everyday and look for a job, go to the library and use the computer if you don't have one of your own at home. You can read the local classifieds.
Please this is a set back and a hump for you to get over but it is not an end. This is just the begining for you and your girlfriend and your baby. You can make it you will make it even if you need a little help to get started.Don't let the ignorance of negativity get you down ..we all need a little help sometimes. I started out in a very similar way (I'm not saying it was good way to start or an easy way) and I made it and have never need to have help from welfare again it has been 20 yrs since my son was born ..my life has changed and gotten better but I am for ever thankful to the WIC office in ReedCity Michigan for all it's help and the local Path office there. I wouldn't have made it with out them. I haven't lived in Michigan in 19 yrs ....seems like forever and a day.
~Best of luck to you and your family~

First, don't fall into that hole.

Second, YOU can get unemployment, but your baby cannot.

Third, your girlfriend will have to apply for welfare for herself and the baby. Also, she should apply for WIC (Women, Infants & Children).

Fourth, your baby is not due for 3 months, so LOOK for another job. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS AN ADULT TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR SPOUSE AND YOUR CHILDREN.

You acted like an adult, having sex, so you need to BE an adult.
