my father in law thinks he knows everything. for instance my husband and i (yes i'm female. under my husbands name) were listening to the song by musical youth. automatically he saw them on tv and new them well. he is a country music nut. he always contradics (spelling) everything anyone say's. he has to always be right. i can't stand it. he's a doctor, a lawyer, abar tender, roofer, brick layer, etc. and sits on his but what do i say. i don't want to be mean but i can't take it any longer.

First and foremost you need to get him out of your house!! Geez no wonder you're goin' nuts! People like this, well....you can't fix stupid!! Ya should talk to your husband about it and he should say something to his father. He's an a** and his son should be the one to tell him - not you! He'll resent you should you say something and will belittle you! YOU can't fix stupid, but maybe your husband or mother-in-law can! If they can move out, get them out into their own place!!

Do some research on three or four subjects and when he gives back wrong information present him with a hard-copy of the real answer an actual pro would give. Should shut him up, I'd say!

I don't know. I'm not a nice person. so if someone gets on my nerves I snap. If you know he is wrong about something and you have the right answer tell him. If push comes to shove, both of you look it up. It might shut him up for a second or think before he speaks.

That's something your are going to have to live with. You chose his family for a reason and yeah I kknow what you mean. I've got an uncle who thinks he is also everything, I think these starts happening with age bacause the older they get the more they think they know, they feel so wise.

I'd be telling him it is time for him to get his own place.

I think everyone has that one person in the family that tells tall tales. It's not going to change that is just the way he is.

Just take his stories with a grain of salt.

The best thing you can do is to not give him the chance to contradict you and know that you'll out live him and smile your secret smile! :-)
