The hoof of a horse contains proteins which, like casein, can be used to make glue. Horse bones and cartilage may also be used to make glue.

In India, the cow's dung could be used to make lots of things:

1. Fuel - cow dung patties (gootte) for cooking

2. Fertilizer - composting makes it even more powerful

3. Heat source - cow dung is naturally hot -compost makes hotter put in glass house to heat glass house or run pipes thru it to get hot water.

3. Purifier - natural antiseptic qualities

4. Floor coating - used mixed with mud and water on floors in mud houses. Improves water absorption of mud. Prevents muddy puddles resulting from spilt water.

5. Mud brick additive - improves resistance to disintegration

6. Skin tonic - mixed with crushed neem leaves smeared on skin - good for boils and heat rash (SP used it for heat rash in Mayapur.)

7. Smoke producer - smoldering cow patties keep away mosquitoes. Can also make smoked paneer over such smoke. Tastes great in pasta! :)

8. Adhesive - Stick stuff together.

They make glue from horses bones. Animal-sourced glue is made from connective tissue, found in hoofs, bones, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage in vertebrate animals. Dead horses are often sent to a rendering plant where this happens. The sad thing about the whole deal is that Congress are passing laws restricting the export of horse-meat, which is sad only because a horse can live a long & productive life, and then die & still become a tasty meal; Cows must die young to be "palatable". Which seems the "kinder" industry to you?

But yes, a fine glue can be made from almost any vertebrate.

Some forms of glue IS made from animals. Horses are not exclusive to the production of glue, it comes from waste animal products, cooked down, treated chemically, de-scented and whitners added (ordinary glue is browish in color and opaque) Did you know that horses are being killed for food? Yes its true. Right here in America there are three meat factories that have killed and cut them up for meat to be shipped overseas. Many of our horses are being shipped in huge ships over seas to be killed and eaten, foals and burros too! Write the Humane Society of the United States and get involved to stop this!!!

They take all the bony parts including the hooves and boil them to get the sticky part from the cartlidge in those bones. The horse bones are left over after the horse was used for dog food. Natural glues like that are obsolete.

A hundred years ago, many old horses were killed and sent to the glue factory. But today, most glue is made from the bones and hooves of cattle, which thanks to the fast-food burger places, there are a lot of these by-products to be used.

They use the hooves and boil them to extract the glue. This isn't done anymore since synthetic and vegetable based glues are much better.
