I have a computer 6 months old and it was awesome until i moved it. It's slow and the hard drive always seems like its working hard. I always have problems with unresponsive programs and I have to end them immediately. I have to press ctrl alt delete often. I have windows xp, nortons security suite, window washer, and spy sweeper. what else do I need.

I have plenty of memory and I don't need to defragment.

upgrade your RAM . its slow because your RAM can't acces all your memory fast enough. check crucial to see what your computer can support and to waht MB or GB your MoBo can support.

Probably simplest of all would be to defragment it with windows defrag, or buy a program called Diskkeeper wich is MUCH more efficient. Windows actually uses a very early version of this program as their own.
Other than that I would check what extra processes you have running. All of those things - Norton, Spysweeper, WW, are very resource heavy and can turn your system to mush if running frequently or at the same time as each other.

What specifically is slow?
I've used Window Washer for five years. With Yahoo email and Spysweeper you must not block "COMMON AD SITES".
I believe this is one of the main reasons Yahoo Email seems so slow. It took me five days to figure this out. Everything is normal now.

Vlord, makes a good point. If it was working fine before the move, Unless you added programs after the move? then it could be the memory

Probably when you moved it the memory moves too.. opened up or bring somebody else to check it out.
So if you have two memories and one of them moves the other still works but is not as fast

Try deleteing your temp files by goning to your control panel on your start menu, then click maitanece on your control panel..
You will be able to select to clear files to help your cpu to run faster, or you can exit the page and try to enter it again.
Another way is to push your back bottun then push forward to go back to the page.

Check to see how much memory you have. You may be running low. Are you doing a lot of downloads? You have to have so much memory available to run you computer.
