Jaywalking is crossing the street against the law. It could be while the light is red or "don't walk" for you, or it could be by not crossing in the crosswalk (parallel), or crossing in the middle of a street with a cross-walk at both ends or at one end. It is also walking diagonally starting anywhere (including beginning in the cross-walk) and concluding the walk outside the cross walk, or vice versa (starting outside the cross-walk and completing inside it).

It's basically just walking across the street from the middle of the block. Not crossing at crosswalks or at corners.
It's 'considered' illegal...but I don't think anyone really takes that seriously.
i think it's spelled like that...j-walking.

j-walking is when a person walks across the street because there are no cars and the crosswalk sign is telling them to stop. i'm not exactlly sure how it is spelt.
