I don't think people are really taking it seriously. They say they do but I don't think they REALLY care as much as they say they do.

Great idea! I am in heating and cooling now for 19 years and people are allways looking to improve there efficiency of the rising prices of fossel fules or electricity you wont go wrong in trying at the least you will gain from the experience. Also in the year 2010 the production of r22 ( units manufactured) freon the gas that is in your air conditioners. The units will no longer be produced. The freeon will still be made only till 2015, and then no one will be able to buy it. The new freons cost much more and technology keeps increasing. With the increasing costs of everything, most people dont have a lot of money to put into up grading. You also asked about global warming, Im not an authority on it. Someone looked into the sky and said look there is a whole in the ozone layer, where did it come from, and it was determined from freon. Now all the aerosol was removed from our store shelves ( hair spray air freshnersetc. ) , only now to find out that what replaced it is now 10 times more damaging in creating more green house heat in our invironment. Your idea is a good one best wishes, Carl S.

I think people do take it seriously, but many seem to think they do not need to do anything because somebody else will, or the "it does not apply to me attitude." I think your idea of setting up and agency is a great idea. Why not start off with a website offering advice and build from there. I would certainly use your services to get friendly advice and information, rather been told what to do by a government. Good luck.

More and more people are taking climate change seriously - and there's more media interest from Al Gore and the Independent newspaper to David Attenborough - and even the Sun now carries the occasional green tip.
However, the big incentive for individuals to change their behaviour is financial in my view. We need green taxes to encourage people to switch from planes to trains, to use less energy at home and to buy it from renewable sources. So if your business is pitched at saving money as well as saving the world it might be a success.
However, there are so many sources of free advice from charities and local councils that people may not want to pay for it. I think as a business proposition, your best bet might be to aim at small businesses..

Nope. Most people realize its nothing but a politically driven scare tactic. I'm always interested in ways to save money that are reasonable and don't cost more than I'll save.

Whether the people take it seriously or not, our administration needs to, and they aren't. We need to vote out the big oil companies who have put our current president and his administration into power, and elect another one that has a more green conscience. Vote in November~!
