Is this bad? females only-?

Question

i went to the doctor cause I was experiencing several probs. Anyway, he said that my body was making estrogen like it should, but theres another hormone, progesteon, that my body is not making. He gave me some progesteron pills. What does progesteron do? Is it bad that my body isn't making it? What exactly is going on? I'm 22 and never had any serious health probs-should I be concerened? finally, am I going to have to live on pills-cause I don't want to-is this somethig that can be corrected without them, or do I have to live with this prob?
plz, I'm being serious, no jokes

ok, I've heard of progesterone b-4. I don't understand what it does. if it just regulates my cycles, then why was it so important to get me on the pills? I mean, I can live without my regular cycles.can't I?

It sounds me like you might have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Usually the birth control pill will regulate the hormones, that is, unless you are trying to conceive. Taking control of your problem is the right thing to do and you should not be concerned about your problem if you follow doctors orders and do research on your own about it online. I know more people that "live on pills" than not, it's just a part of life.

Well, it isn't good, but it certainly isn't the end of the world. We need both female hormones to regulate our cycles and help with other general body functions. Since progesterone can so easily be replaced with pills, injections (Depo-provera--only need a shot every 3 months), and sometimes implants, it is a problem that you can easily live with.

ummz we learned bout dis in biology buh yea so i think it is jus a female hormone n your jus missin it so the pills will return the hormone

i have no idea sweetie! but the next time you go to the doctor make sure ask as many questions as poosible!..you cold have been allergic to somethin' and you wouldnt have known!
