Well I'm having period pains and I feel a little depressed too. Is it normal to be depressed before your period? Thanks!

If you don't usually get that way and you're just kind of worried about it, don't. It's totally normal to get depressed and have feelings of hopelessness around the time you have you're period. Sometimes it changes. I mean, sometimes I get angry at everyone, or all I want to do is go crawl up in a ball in a corner. Don't worry about it. But if it persists and you continue to have anxiety, it might be a good idea to talk to someone about it.

With some people it is. The hormones are raised and they effect the brain, causing depression. If it gets intolerable call your gynocolgist. They can put you on low dose prozac that you take only on the 10 days before your period, then stop when your period comes. That works well without having to take it constantly. It balances out the chemical changes. You don't need it when your brain is chemically balanced, staring the first day of the period up through day18-20, only the laast seven -ten days .

Good luck and don't let this depression get out of hand.

This is a common menstrual-related phenomenon; many people think that it is normal to experience certain discomforts before periods. However, in Chinese medicine, mood swings indicate body disharmony and can be due to different causes.
