Childish makes me think of immaturity; a person doing things that are not appropriate for one's age, for example.

Child-like makes me think of innocence; a person being spontaneous and happy, regardless of their age.

The term 'childish' is a derogatory one. It is far from 'childlike' (innocent & naive) in meaning.

'Childish' is silly, IMMATURE, petty, juvenile, babyish.

When an adult behaves foolishly & immaturely with stupid enthusiasm, the term comes to my mind to characterize that person.

I have seen some adults behaving foolishly without maturity of mind as fits their age. Comic personas.
