I have a choice between getting a condo right in front of the beach and one that is bigger but more inland same town; they are both the same price but I was considering purchasing the one in front of the water because of the views and it will go up in value quicker so it is a good investement. It has a slinding glass door, someone told me that if I live too close to the ocean that a lot of sand can get in to my home and that things like my tv and computers (I have like five of them) and other things like stereo can get pretty messed up because of the sea air and the salt in the air, has anyone that lived or lives in beach property that close to the ocean can advice me on this. No smart *** answers please I am tired of smart *** rude people on this site.

Not only do I live in Florida but I live in Punta Gorda, ground zero for hurricane Charley. Our condo is a corner unit on a salt water canal. Absolutely no one I've heard of has had a problem with their computer, stereo, TV etc.
Yes, salt will corrode. If the dishwasher doesn't already have a stainless steel interior, replace it with one that does when it rusts out. When buying any appliances look for ones with rust free parts or lifetime guarantees. When it is time to replace your carpet, install ceramic tile - easier to clean up tracked in sand.
If you have a problem with musty smell in your closets, buy Damprid. Monitor your humidity level if you suspect you have a problem- there are simple devices you can pick up.
Keep your windows closed during periods of high humidity and you will be fine.

If you live high enough the sand is not really an issue. Your home appliances will rust in no time unless they are painted properly. I lived close to the beach for 21 years and we had to repaint our fridge every few months to keep it from rusting.
I imagine much newer appliances don't have this problem, but I remember plenty of fridges and washing machines rusting so bad that their legs collapsed. The washing machines were the worst because as soon as they lose balance they self destruct.
Another thing is depending where you are located, hurricanes may be an issue. If you are in the hurricane belt invest in a set of storm shutters.

I lived in Fort Lauderdale for a few years, both close and a few miles away from the beach. I liked being farther away, because traffic was not as bad, stores were nicer and newer, the tap water was better, and I was closer to work. I felt like being really close to the beach was no big deal, because I only went to the beach about every other week.

I lived in Hermosa Beach, California once. It's always better to buy at the water rather than inland, but to take care of your computers you should seek out a computer and/or insulation/air conditioning-type person. Best of luck.

on the beach!! salt air is harsh, however, i would assume the condo has central air. air conditioning will help to keep the humidity level down thereby helping with the issue of corrosion. as far as sand getting in -- you have to believe the condo is fairly well insulated and all you'd be bringing in is what's on your shoes and/or feet. wiping them should eliminate that. there's nothing like the smell of salt air -- go for it, if you hate it, your condo is bound to increase in value by leaps and bounds!!!!

Go for the water.
I never had a problem with sand or anything. If the air is a problem then get a dehumidifier - but I can't imagine.
