My advice---even seasoned mechanics will not attempt to work on transmissions. Leave it to the professionals.
That being said, and it you are set on doing it your self, go pay the $20-30 to get the manual on how to rebuild your tranny. It's money really well spent.

Did you realise that if the pump pressure failed it was the result of some other metal part failure. Pull the pan first if it looks like the gold/silver rush in the transmission pan or magnets look like beards the transmission has failed and just putting in a pump will not help, Save the old fluid in a clean drain pan to reuse . Let that transmission and 16 year old car go onto greener pastures. Front wheel drive gear boxes require the subframe to be removed from under. This requires a engine holding cross bar. The car has to be four feet in the air to get the frame and gear box out the bottom Jack stands, Floor jack. engine cross brace and still the job is scary on a automotive lift much less wobbly old jack stands.

You need to remove the transmission from the car and you can access to pump after you pull the torque converter from the engine. I would take this part in to a mechanic if you don't know what you're doing. This is a tricky repair that can cost you more if you wreck an expensive part.

Simple.
Remove the engine.
remove the transmission from the engine.
disassemble the transmission.

Replace the pump, and reassemble everything.

Take my advice...get a rebuilt tranny...there is not enough space to show you how to rebuild an auto transmission.

A trashed pump equals complete diassembly, converter replacement...etc.
