thats a toughie.

cher certainly should be on the list. she was singing professionally before most of us were born.

tina turner

carole king wrote a lot of music for others that were hits.

im sure that a lot will say madonna. but madonna hasnt did anything that cher didnt do years before.

melissa ethridge wasnt afraid to voice her opinion about anything and is spokesperson for cancer now.

loretta lynn was definately singing before most of us were born and led the way for other female singers.

patsy cline with her incredible voice that is unsurpassed even today.
