The flood was for the fact that God created people with free will. That free will allowed for temptation and then for sin. Not saying temptation is sin but when taken too far it is. As for the punishment you need top learn from your mistakes. Why create a utopia when you could just leave everything alone. It doesn't matter why he created earth or why people believe that only Christians can get into heaven. That was a ploy years and years ago to get people to join the christian religion. I'm Catholic and i know very well that it's easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for me to get into heaven but i still have a chance. "He will love you no matter what you do and even if you turn away, hate and scorn and jeer he'll love unconditionally all throughout your years."
Blessed Be.

Great questions!
I am NOT a believer in all seeing, all knowing beings with a bad temper, I figure I should get that out of the way first.
1) Did you know there isn't enough water on/in/above the earth to flood the whole planet?
2) Did you know that the epic of Gilgamesh (Babylonian civilizations tale of a great flood) which is almost 2000 years older than the tale of Noah, has unbelievably similar circumstances, except there IS scientific evidence for a regional flood in the Tigris/Euphrates river valley which coincides with the timeline for the story of Gilgamesh.
3) The "proof of the Noah's Ark" on top of Mt. Ararat in modern Turkey is actually nothing more than a collection of logs from roughly the year 800, a full thousand years AFTER the supposed time of Noah. I can hear it now... "Well, where did the logs come from if they AREN'T from Noah's Ark?" Well, the fact is, the environment near Mt. Ararat ~1200 years ago was warmer, and Ararat was actually a source of wood for the people at the time.
The rest of the questions can be explored through a number of independent resources, such as
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/index.htm
http://www.infidelguy.com/
and MANY more!
Don't just accept, QUESTION! That is what is so great about free will! If god exists, and he gave us free will, he gave us the ability to question his existence and his motives! See, it's part of the perfect paradox of "god!" If you DO believe, then he is the reason you CAN question him. If you DON'T believe, then you STILL have the free will to question him!

God flooded the world to see who would listen to Noah, He gave the people plenty of chances to get to the Ark.He does know everything that is going to happen to us, but believe me He didn't want to destroy us, He wanted us to live a clean life. If you remember Satan wanted more power and he reveled against God. Santa was an angel before he decided to go against God. So that is when all that God had planned for us changed. God said to Satan I will give you the opportunity to take yours and it will be done only with my permission(I said this in my own words it is different in the Bible). So this is why the beautiful and clean world God created changed. Satan was the one that got Eve to eat the apple that God had told her not to eat. You see God put us here with a free will, if we don't do as He says that is when punishment comes in. Remember Satan is always there to do bad things, it is up to us to do it or not to do it. The best thing I can tell you to do is sit down and read the bible cover to cover and you will understand more on how God created the world and why we have to pay for our sins. God Bless you Brother.
It will take you some time to read the Bible but try to have someone that knows the Bible well enough to find all the passages you have questions on.

OK, let's see if YOU can handle this: Yes, God is omniscient, and he flooded the world because the people back then were wicked. He knew there would be wicked people, but because he gave us free will, those people decided for themselves that they had to follow their own lusts. God punished them for being disobedient, just the same way your parents did to you when you disobeyed them. Now let's talk about sin. Yeah, God knew that we would sin, and he had things set in place to restore us to His favor. All you need to do his to repent and ask for forgiveness and the slate gets wiped clean. What human today will do something like that. Most of us, if will either burst a blood vessel to not accept your apology, or will accept it, but remember and hold a grudge forever. He completely forgets about the infraction. Now about your question about God's Love. If you were God, why would you want people around you in Heaven that didn't want any part of you on Earth?? Yes, that is a condition, but it is a conditional that was decided on by those who wanted no part of God. Like I have said in other posts, God has sent you an invitation, and all you have to do to R.S.V.P. is to believe that Jesus is His only begotten Son, and be obedient to Him. If you decide to refuse the invitation, then why should you get to go to the celebration??
Great question Gambit!! Keep it up!!

Please bare with my spelling.
The flooding of the world wasn't just a way to start over. It was a sign that he despises evil. At the time of the flooding people were at their peak with evil thoughts and ways.
People are free thinkers. We have the ability to do as we please. God enjoys watching us grow and develop in his knowledge. Punishment is only dealt when we step out of his plan for us. The easiest analogy I can think of would be a gardener pruning a plant to help it grow to his liking.
God's love is unconditional. He doesn't create a person just to kill them off. He gives them a chance to live a life as they choose. If a person chooses to live a Christian life then he allows us into heaven. If a person chooses to live a life of sin then they are sent to hell. He doesn't make the choice. We do. God loves us and it hurts him to see us go wrong. Take the great flood for example. Here God had spent all of that time creating and developing just to have it all but one family go wrong. It's easy to think of the good Lord as a untouchable god setting back unphased by our actions and waiting to strike us down. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hope this helps you in find what you wanted. Sure didn't mean to write so much.

Okay...where to start...First off, read your Bible and talk to your pastor, if you really are concerned about these questions...
First question: Why did he flood the world if he knew people were going to be bad? You have to understand that God wanted to create a being in His image. This means he wanted people to have free will, and he did know that they would sin and he did know that their free will would eventually make them bad people. But he wanted to give them free will, and he did, and decided that even though they had sinned, he would make a way for them to still be saved. He flooded the world because the people had become so corrupted and didn't accept him as God. All except for Noah and his family, of course.
Second, who ever said God's lovewas unconditional? I'd like a reference for that...Either way, his love is for everyone, and he OFFERS it to everyone, but not everyone accepts it. God isn't stupid. If someone refuses to acknowledge the one who made them and who has done everything for them and refuses to accept that they are in need of a savior, it isn't GOD who takes his love away, it's that person who takes themselves away from that love.
Third, God DOES want us to ask questions, and anyone who doesn't ask questions is a fool.. It's just not always easy to find the one with the answers.

Yes, he knew and in Genesis 3:15 he had ALREADY made a plan to "fix mankinds mistake," as it says in there, "Christ will bruise Satan in the Head (imprison him in spiritual darkness) and satan (the serpent) will bruise the son of man in the heel (kill him for 3 days and then he will resurrect and become more powerful). So, that close to the Garden of Eden, he had already made a way out for us. And yes, he knew there was "a possiblility" but when free will is involved, you never know.
Also, NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY HE WILL DESTROY THE WORLD! EVER! The opposite is true. The Earth is here FOREVER. The answer is in the first chapter of Genesis 1:28: "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
Also, the Bible says the Earth is to be "filled" with Perfect, Peaceful men, (Ps. 72:7) "In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth."
Matthew 6:10 "Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
Also, the Bible says the Earth will never be destroyed or depopulated,
(Ecclesiatstes 1:4) "One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth for ever."
Why does God punish people? "Spare the rod and spoil the child." This is the only way to be shown the correct path in a gentle and loving way. God does NOT destroy his worshippers just for nothing, he's a kind loving Father who disciplines over time, even "forgetting our sins" if we return and do right. As he did for Israel over and over again.
Why must you be Christian? Because Christian MEANS Christ LIKE. And the ONLY WAY to salvation (THE ONLY WAY) IS THROUGH ACCEPTANCE of Christ Jesus as your Savoir and by doing his works. "Faith without Works is Dead." (James 2:26) and Christ is the Perfecter of our Faith (Heb. 12:2) So we see here that without CHRIST its NOT possible to get near God.
And, he will make us perfect again, soon. Your questions are simple and easily answered and I can go into much, much more detail anytime you like.

I think you asked this b4
God is omnisient... that isnt the issue... he flooded the world as a constraint against sin and as a judgement against sin and to warn us that there is ajudgement in the future
God's love is not totally unconditional in a sense, God has wrath against sin... he does offer mercy to all... and the mercy is conditioned upon glorifying God leaning on the work of Jesus on the cross
nuthin wrong with an honest question ... its the smoke screens I dont like
