Madison supported the separation of powers. He was the father of the constitution. He wanted to have a stronger government than provided by the articles of confederation. Opponents argued that a legislative body was more democratic. This refuted that position.

1. Supported the separation of powers. More simply put Legislative + Executive + Judicial = Tyranny.

2. Madison held these views because he opposed the British form of government.
