What you are talking about is probably "screamo" and no, it isn't great in vocals. I don't really have any idea why it has grown in popularity. I like the heavy instrumentals sometimes, but the screaming isn't so great. However, it is still accompanied by instruments, making it legitimate.

There are so many different types of rock. Just like there is Rap, Hip Hop, and R&B. A lot of white people would just put that all together even though they are very different. I wouldn't put down all of the music because of a couple of songs you've heard. I know that a lot of people suggested Linkin Park, but you'd probably like Gym Class Heroes a lot more. They are a good band, and it's sort of a rap/rock crossbreed.

As an "old" person, I have a hard time getting why young people want to define themselves by the music they listen to. I have always had rather eclectic musical tastes and I still do. I grew up with "classic" rock, and there was some of it I loved and some I didn't care for. Some of today's rock and rap I love and some I don't care for. I enjoy other forms of music as well from classical to jazz to blues to folk. I never felt that the music I listened to defined the kind of person I was and I never considered rejecting another person because their taste in music was different than mine.

Yes. Screaming is music. Why shouldn't it be? Rap is 'just' talking isn't it? People just have different tastes, if you don't want people to criticise your taste in music then don't criticise them.

Not all rock music is screaming anyway, there are LOADS of bands that just purely sing their music, and those that do have a bit in it it's usually not overdone.

Besides, many rock bands have rapping in some of their songs. Try listening to linkin park or limp bizkit - you never know, you might like it.

Yes I LOVE rock!!!!! I listen to to classic rock, progressive rock, grunge rock, metal and some country. Although I could never name ALL the bands I like, my favorites are: Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Black Sabbath, Queen, Joe Walsh, Guns N Roses, Areosmith, Tool, Alice in Chains, AC/DC, Disturbed, Korn, Primus, Led Zepplin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Eagles, Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynrd, Pantera, wow... I could keep going but I think you get the idea. These bands DO NO scream the whole time. That is not rock, it is death or goth metal. get it right before you start your criticism. By the way rap is not music

That wouldn't be classified as rock; that'd be modern-day heavy metal. F*cking get the difference straight. And can YOU do that with YOUR voice!?! Yeah, whatever. I don't particularly favor heavy metal, though I do occasionally listen to it, but I definitely appreciate the fact that they can use such a strong voice throughout the song. And rap IS crap... way to be apart of the growing population of idiots, who'll eventually be the downfall of the US. Anybody can take a notecard, write some sh*tty "lyrics" on it referring to McDonald's, Fritos, and Nintendo or whatever... and practice saying it faster and faster, okay? It takes real *MUSICAL* talent to make a song good, and that's just what rockers accomplish.

I love rock!...Just the kind that you can understand what they're saying. If I'm having a really bad day, then I love the screaming stuff, but most of the time I just like the rock that you know what they're saying. Oh, and rap is crap, have you listened to it lately?

YES i seriously like rock music...i don't like new punk, rap, hip-hop, but I do like rock----everything from The Beatles to Pantera.
btw....what concern of yours is it that most rockers make fun of rap....don't all rappers make fun of rock? It kinda goes both ways doesn't it? just curious.......

Hell yeah, there's nothing wrong with screaming in music. It's just as original as talking durring music. If you don't like it, I got a simple solution for you. DON'T LISTEN TO IT. It's easier to turn it off than it is to get on the internet and start bitching about it.

actually rock music is pretty good. i like heavy metal, classic rock, dance metal, folk rock. and about the screaming stuff... i hate that. i only like music that i can understand (besides rammstein they are german).
