Yeah, I was wondering why all the fuss over myspace myself. It's not very good in my opinion. I can find other means of getting online friends without the need for myspace. Besides, there seems to be a large pervert population and young kids who can easily be manipulated.

Myspace is only overrated if people are using it as a popularity contest.
I use myspace as a place to use my HTML skills, add music, upload photos; like an album, and add my friends. I have my page set to private and anyone I don't know that requests me will not be added.
I am not on Myspace to meet friends or, basically, guys that want to hit on me from 200 miles away. I'm on Myspace to send comments to the ones I care about and work on my HTML.
Also, everyone gives Myspace a bad rap because some people were raped for meeting guys of there ect. You know what I say about it though? Thanks to Myspace I found my long lost best friend. Him and I were best friends from ages 1 month-8 years until he moved away. We hadn't spoken until recently! It's people who weren't taught safety that go about getting raped.
I don't blame Myspace for people getting raped, I blame peoples stupidity to go out and meet some guy you barely know and the parents for not keeping a closer eye on their kids.

I have a myspace account after my sons told me about it. I have become good friends offline with a few of the people I have met online. Also it's a great way to keep up with your favorite bands, when and where they are playing. I don't believe that myspace is over-rated, it's just a place to meet other people, blog things and post pictures. Just try to enjoy life offline.
