Relative or Friend. Strangers tend to watch what they say for fear of insulting somone or coming off too friendly.
Friends or relative don't care if you get your feelings hurt when they tell the truth. so a good comment tends to be more sincere.

interesting consideration. How many of us ask questions of strangers in hope of getting a sincere comment since they don't have an investment in you. I made a sincere comment recently at a cosmetic counter when this girl asked me if I liked her eyeshadow. It looked like the girl on Drew Carey show it was awfully over the top and she got insulted when I told her it was a great color but too much was on..

From a stranger because it would be more sincere. They don't have to give good comments unless they want.

It doesn't really matter, it depends on what they comment about, but comments are more sincere and realistic when made by strangers who don't know you.

Stranger. This way it is probably more sincere unless they want to use you
A relative, even though it feels nice, they have seen you too much and probably just want you to feel good

Stranger. They have no motivation to protect my feelings. Family or Friends do.
