Can anybody tell me about Brazilian Christmas? My wife and I like to travel out of the USA for Christmas and prefer to go places where Christmas is more of a public holiday than in the Anglo-American tradition. We have gone several times to Oaxaca, but this year we want to try something new.

Hello o41655

It depends upon which part of the country you visit.
Brazilians are a mix of people from many parts of the world, they have many Christmas customs which originate from thePortuguese .

You might look up (Bahamas Junkanoo) on your computer. These wonderful and colorful, gentle people will welcome you with open arms, and provide for you a wonderful vacation..... I love the Islands....

I'm from Argentina and I never knew what it was like to have Christmas in winter until I came to the US. My Christmases consisted of swimming in the pool, having a bbq and opening presents outside. It was just so odd for me to associate snow with Christmas. I would definitely recommend celebrating Christmas in a totally different environment such as the climate. Not only will you experience a different type of weather, but along with that, the food is different (remember it's summer so you're going to get summer type foods like potato salads, bbq, ice cream, etc) and other traditions that you would never imagine. I have been to Brazil but not for Christmas; it's a beautiful country!
