It does NOT earn very good money, any more. Too many chicks who wanna be models out there doing it for free to get pictures, and too many tightwad "photographers".

As a nude model, both for art classes AND doing "glamour nudes"...
I find that it is very empowering when I see the great results. The first time I posed nude, I was very nervous and very unconfident. I relaxed and got into it and just began moving and it became a creative project with the guy behind the camera. Like painting a picture, but being the paint.
The photographer (still a good friend) was taking art nudes, and when I went thru the results (at home, privately), I never knew I looked "that good". These were art nudes, just playing with shadows and textures.
I love provoking emotions. I love using my body as an instrument of communication, expression, and art. I love collaborating with the "photographers" and being in the creative flow of things.
This is why *I* pose nude. I very rarely sign model releases, becuase I don't care for my images to be very much out of my control ("all over the internet").... especially since not all the images turn out looking super-good!!
I think other women pose nude for the same reasons of feeling empowered and beautiful in their bodies (I know several other models whose self esteems have greatly improved, once they were able to see stuff like one's round *** so objectively so femininely beautiful).
I also think that there is limited money in it (especially at the more erotic and explicit end). It addresses a certain type of insecurity. There is some prestige of saying you "model" (and nude modeling is the easiest to do, since guys always wanna take pictures). If you make it "big", you can really meet cool people and make even more money and gain some notoriety.
There are many reasons to want to pose nude. They vary according to the woman, her circumstances, her background, culture, those around her, and those who she comes into contact with.
