Ford road the gravy train with SUVs and when demand declined they were to lose profits. They are laying off hourly, union workers. This has been the norm over the past two decades, so it should be no surprise when the car makers start such lay offs. Wondering what upper management is making, CEO?????

Market has changed........ Ford's Truck's & SUV's have lost market share to Crossovers & hybreds from Honda & Toyota. The other car makers are in the same boat. has littel to do with who is in the White House. So have you driven a Ford lately??

Based on the numbers? Not many are..... The other factor is overhead. The UAW contracts over the last 50 years ad thousands to the cost of a Detroit built car. GM today has more pensioners than Employees... That is a recipe for doom.

It's the changing times in the American automotive industry. Ford's Way Forward program is just the (only) thing to turn the nation's third-largest carmaker around financially. Downsizing is the new way of doing business in this country nowadays. Just get used to it. Let's thank Bush for screwing up this economy that his predecessor Clinton worked so hard to have it built up!

Clinton knew how to help america's economy.

Ford is run by a Republican family, that loves sending work overseas. But they get rich, and screw the union.

Ford also can't compete with the Japs, that have better cars, and far better warranties.

PS-I drive a hot Ford convertable...see my 360 page!

Sales are down for Ford. If a company cannot afford to keep it's employees it does not matter if the economy is good or bad the company has to do something in order not to shut down completely.

Make no mistake about it, the U.S., as well as the entire world economy is on the brink of absolute, and utter disaster. It's all part of the plan.

Do you know many auto workers make over $100k per annum? That is why American car makers are going to go extinct. That amount of money is obscene!
