Thanks crazy, I tried out but I couldn't tell the difference that's why I'm seeking others opinions. You can eat 10 burgers a day, you'd love it, have some fries XL with it too, you'd love that too, keep eating the same for 2 years, you'll croak. You don't know at the time of eating. Same thing, I'm just trying to figure out from experts or those with experience if ARCO gas can harm the engine or something, I can't tell if there is any performace difference, but I'd like to know the long term effects.

Ohoho:
Arco is owned by British Petroleum. The acronym ARCO stands for Atlantic Richfield Company and resulted from the merger of Atlantic Petroleum on the east coast, and Richfield Petroleum on the west coast. Most gasoline companies accepted credit cards for which they pay a processing fee to the credit card company, something like 2 or 3 percent. ARCO stopped accepting credit cards some years ago and since they no longer had that operating expense, lowered the pump price of their product to get an "edge" on the competition. Today many accept ATM cards
Will it hurt your car? For several years I drove a gasoline tanker so, TRUST ME, almost ALL gasoline comes out of the same storage tanks. The only difference is the additives and dyes each particular company puts in their gas to distinguish their product from another. The tank field where we loaded our tanker had a computer in the office, and we would enter which station we were delivering to, and the computer would mix that particular stations formula.
Also almost every emission controlled car manufactured today is designed to operate properly on 87 octane regular gas (check your owners manual).. All these people who "think" their car runs better on premium gas are only fooling them self and wasting their money. I buy the cheapest gas I can find and my car runs great!
I can also assure you that there will be several people tell you that I don't know what I'm talking about, because they know it all.

I don't live on the west coast, so I can't attest to the quality of these gasolines, but to set the record straight, gasoline is similar until it's loaded to deliver to your station. Multiple companies load off the same tanks at the terminal, but the different brands get their own additive packages injected during truck loading. I've heard lots of bad comments about ARCO gasoline, which is a division of BP. Space Age I've never heard of, but I'd guess they're selling discount fuel. These additives are required by the government, but can significantly impact the quality of the fuel you purchase. Discount fuels only have the government minimum detergent additives, which will, over time, allow a buildup of crud in your engine. Valves won't seat properly, sludge builds up due to incomplete combustion, both of which will cost you fuel efficiency. The Top Tier fuels program was developed by car manufacturers, including BMW, Toyota, Honda, Audi, GM and Volkswagen to identify those fuels that will actually keep your engine cleaner over the life of your vehicle. Top Tier suppliers have to meet standards for all grades of gasoline, not just premium. Vehicle engines are highly complex machines that require regular care. By running a high quality fuel in your engine, you will reduce the maintenance required over the life of your vehicle. It's been estimated that the average family that drives 2 20 mpg cars 15,000 miles per year spends about $5200 a year on fuel. If you save 5 cents per gallon, you'll spend $75 per year less on gasoline. Me, I'm happy to spend that 37.50 a year to be sure I'm running a high quality fuel in my vehicle which will help it last longer and likely actually save me that money in higher efficiency.

Not necessarily poor quality but Arco and other discount brands do use a slightly higher percentage of additives which reduces the mpg for most vehicles.

They don't sell it in my area. Seems I remember using it in Colorado in the sixties. I suppose it meets some type of government specs. Seems to me,I'm getting a spark knock, (rattly valves)with all the E-87 now days.I thought new cars were supposed to adjust their timing accordingly. The higher octane have an additive to keep the gas from igniting prematurely, preventing spark knock.

Additives is what the gas people use to sell the product by saying they have certain cleaners or better emission type gas. If it runs good on gas from there and no noticable engine concerns then it would be ok to use.

i cant answer for the additives, because thats a company secret stuff. but from my experience, it doesnt burn as well and my car doesnt have the power it should. i always run mid-grade gas in my cars, but i need arco premium to keep up with the better stations' mid-grade, which eliuminates the savings.
