B-R-E-A-T-H-E....slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth, then go ahead and do what anyone who wasn't scared would do. What is the worst that could happen?
As far as kids thinking you are wierd, kids are jerks to each other. I am sure you're fine. The day you don't give a crap what anyone thinks, or at least don't show it, is the day they won't think you're wierd. Slow down. You'll be okay.
I would not ask her out yet. Play it safe. At least talk to her first. Does she play sports? What does she do on the weekends? Nice, easy stuff. Girls like to talk about themselves. So ask, and listen. Mostly practice looking confident. The more you pretend, the more you will gain confidence. You are going to make mistakes. Some people are not going to like you. You will be embarrassed sometimes. But the world will not end and you will be just great.
Just slow down and enjoy flirting with her until you get a clue as to whether she's interested. Okay?

Easy, just be you. Don't be awkward, you know? Like don't tell her, "Hey, you're cute." 'Cause I've seen some girls get pretty creeped out by that before. Just get to know her a bit and then ask her out.
But first just go up and say hi. And if things don't work out, no worries, another girl will come along the way soon.
