Chronic dislocations are commonly associated with tears of the labrum, which is a catilagenous structure that helps deepen the socket (or glenoid cavity). Each time you dislocate, you may be damaging the larbrum more and more. If you have been unsuccessful with conservative means (physical thearpy, prolotherapy) it may be time to consider this before the labrum is so damaged that it cannot be repaired. If you do have a labral tear, you are probably looking at a Barkart repair surgery where this tissue is repaired. If the labrum is intact, a surgeon may be considering a thermal capsular shrinkage where heat probes are used on the joint capsule to shrink it, or a capsular shift where the tissues around the capsule are kind of "taken in" much like one would with a pair of pants that are too large. All of these procedures are done arthroscopically and the surgeon could tell you which one is right for you.

Hello jake,
With such frequent dislocations you are at risk of damaging the rotator group of tendons. This will lead to continuous shoulder pain. It will become difficult to repair your shoulder arthroscopically with repeated dislocations.
A rew patients from the US have undergone Shoulder surgery in Chennai's Knee & Shoulder centre. These include the renowned mountaineer from Colorado, and another gentleman from North Carolina.

Get your shoulder surgery done in India. The cost of shoulder surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK
There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.
I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your joint surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin also got her shoulder surgery done in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. Hope this helps.

You should see your normal doc and get a refferal to a orthopedic surgeon. I had the same thing and the orthopedic doc had me have a MRI done and it ended up that I needed immed surgery because the tendons in my shoulder were completly torn. Better to be safe than sorry.

Honestly, I'd try to strengthen it before going the surgical route. I've known 3 guys that had joint surgery (shoulder, ankle, and elbow), both now have new problems to complain about. Definitely speak to your doctor first though.
