well, thanks to bush, our deficit is $834,938,983 trillion right now...so that's a lot of weed to sell. i think it would help...and not just from the amount actually sold. legalizing it would make possesion no longer a crime, which would drastically reduce the money spent on convicting 'criminals', and housing them in prisons and jails across our 'free' country. think of how many non-violent potheads are spending years in prison that we, as taxpayers, have to pay to feed, and house. it's absurd.

That depends if it were Public or privite. If the goverment controlled the growth and sales ie state ran stores then it would be a pure income on all profit. Whould that be enough to fix the national dept? "Revenue from taxation of marijuana sales would range from $2.4 billion per year if marijuana were taxed like ordinary consumer goods to $6.2 billion if it were taxed like alcohol or tobacco."1 That is showing only a tax not pure income. now using that as a guide The national debt is 8,538,804,596,836 and rising 1.74 billion each day. will 6.2 billion cover that? no.

No, because productivity would decrease. Have you ever been stoned? How much work did you accomplish? Probably not much.
