The mile is tough because it is a distance beyond the realm of an all-out sprint. You need to do 2 things besides practice the 1-mile distance: Run shorter sprints (220's & 440's) and some longer runs for endurance. Don't forget to take some rest days in between. Good luck.

Train for it. Run or jog regularly. To me the mile is nothing compared to cross country! Good Luck!

Don't you hate these??? While you're running, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. It helps to keep your muscles relaxed. Also, keep practicing running/jogging, just like any other sport and you'll get a lot better.

oh man hahaha back in MIDDLE SCHOOL when they used to make me do that i was SUPER SLOW even when i cut the corners of the field hahaha. but uhhh TRY TO PACE YOURSELF. and BREATHE INTO YOUR NOSE and OUT YOUR MOUTH while running. GOOD RUNNING SHOES HELPS TOO i didnt believe it at first but it does make a difference. i use NEW BALANCE. but as long as their running shoes they should be fine. because BASKETBALL SHOES can be used for running HOWEVER they are designed to move side to side when you're on the courts. as for running shoes which are designed to propel u forward.

so breathe correctly... pace yourself correctly... use the correct shoes and when your at the final stretch PUSH IT and give it all u got and just sprint... kinda like using NOS when street racing hahaha.

run faster. really, it aught to work. also try stertching before the run and maybe running a warm up lap. or you could start jogging a mile everyday, and by the time your school run comes up, you should have improved your time.

well now you'll be armed with knowledge! as you probably know, stay in lane one, it's the shortest distance....blah blah blah....when you're in your last 2 laps, make if feel like you're going a little faster. cause if you don't, you're probably slowing down. then the last lap, give it all you got, and when your legs wanna fall off, think about moving your arms instead.
