I am in this situation where my brother who is 22 yrs old was beat up and had his I Pod taken by some thugs in his girlfriends neighborhood.

He asked me to help him get them back ( first time he has ever asked for my help physically )

I am 35yrs old, married with 2 kids and my wife is totally against my getting involved at all due to possibly being hurt or caught by the cops.

I dont live in fantasy land where you "HOPE" the cops handle it.

I understand the "MATURE" thing would be to not go back for revenge but the fact that he asked me personally leaves me no choice as to what to do.

I feel like it's my job as his older brother to help him but I also am concerned about them getting him or his girlfriend back for something that I did to them.

I dont know what the hell to do but I do know those punks deserve an azz beating and I would love to give it to them.

my first instinct would be to take care of them the old fashioned way, but then the law would come down on me harder than they would for the thugs, so yeah I would let the law handle it and stay on their butts to do something about it.

Do something about it only if you are SURE you will not get hurt,
I suggest you leave it to the cops to handle it and only give them the information they need, remember you have a family now and getting in the middle of this is not going to help, think about your kids, your brother is old enough now and he should not ask you to put your family in danger by getting you involved, be smart and let the cops handle it. Good Luck

Well if him asking leaves you no choice, Why ask the question. As far as the mature thing to do, that would be for him to have called the police. It sounds to me like there may be an underlying reason why you or your brother don't want the police involved. Sounds to me like your best bet is to just drop it before you yourself end up cuffed in the back seat of a black & white.

Sorry..but you have to much to lose. It's not worth it..Does he not have friends? Maybe they could and I am so sorry because that sucks..If you now for sure you can get over on the guy and teach him a lesson go for it or find a guy that can..Do you have friends that could handle it for you..I mean it's so not worth it..Even if you get the cops involved then the will call him a rat and that's worse and may call more people to try and hurt him.. Find another bigger guy to handle it.. Sorry.

You have way too much to lose by getting involved in revenge.

Revenge is not the answer - and going to the police really is the best method of handling it.

Again, you have your family (wife and children) to consider in this, not just your brother and he should understand that.

Thugs are not people anyone should be messing with, let alone a man with two kids at home. I know that you want to help your brother, but really he needs to report the assault and robbery to the police.

Take out a huge life insurance policy before you go. What you plan doesn't sound like loyalty as much as insanity. For an i Pod?

i could confer with them and ask them to coach themselves in... in the event that they refused, i could turn them in, as doing otherwise could make me an adjunct to the crime after the actuality.... an adjunct after the actuality could be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced....
