There is a chance if you have had contact with fecal to oral.
So..
I would go get the cat treated, and then ask your doc to treat you.

You can't get tapeworms by holding your cat, just because he does. But you do need to take your cat to see a Veterinarian and get him wormed, because if you don't, he will get very very sick, not to mention how uncomfortable, it's making him feel. Some people go to Wal-Mart and get the products they need to worm their animals, but iv'e found, that it doesn't work and it's not as potent as the medicine you get at the Vet's office. That's totally up to you, but please do something, your cats just suffering.

tapeworms can only get into your system by what you eat. tapeworms normally get inside of cats due to they like to nibble on grass! so unless you are eating radom things off the ground you have nothing to worry about!

tape worms or round worms/ring worms. .. chances are you can get them. See your doctor and he can give you an antibiotic to kill any that might be in your system.. as far as the cat.. they have stuff in the kitty isle at walmart that you can mix in their food to solve the problem.
