Its not his party, but it is the result of him being elected President. The democratic party was much different in 1960. It encompassed all views from liberal to conservative. Conservative democrats had a solid lock on southern politics.

After JFK the party began to adopt a more liberal vision. Somewhere in that process the conservative democrats were purged, then the moderates and not the party has taken on a vision of exclusion, pushing away all who don't follow their mandates.

JFK's brother Teddy was instrumental in implementing these changes but JFK would not approve of the socialist platform they have adopted nor would he agree with the homogenous look the party has. JFK recognied the diversity of the party's views and how it strengthened the Democrats.

He's sadly in the company of Joe Lieberman. For the first 13 years of my voting history I considered myself a Democrat (to the most part, I take the individual into consideration). I am now an Independent. JFK: The Cheese Stands Alone Party.

JFK is probably turning over in his grave. He was a MODERATE Democrat. I actually voted for some Democrats back then. He is definitely in company with Joe Lieberman.

JFK's party is not the same as today. And I cant say he would fit with Lieberman either. After all, lest you remember the picture behind in desk of John John, and noted in JFK handwriting was the words "next King of USA". Now true we all write things about our kids, "little Prince," etc. But JFK had a vision of the world as he would conquer it, and that vision is not talked about today. I think if he was allowed to be whom he wanted, we would see a very big American Empire and all the "old fashion glory."

No, this group is not the same. They do not have the courage to stand up for principle and they do not speak clearly enough for anyone to know what they stand for. They are always just against Bush and the war and for anything that is against God or at least Christianity. If it is the same party, it is in name only.

Not that the other party is better. They have both sold out to the lobbyists and corporations, if not our "trading partners" no matter how bad they are to their people. Human rights are not even mentioned any more. Of course that was Carter, but JFK had the ability to motivate and inspire. Who has that today?

I think JFK and FDR are rolling over in their graves. JFK would be embarrassed by his brother Teddy. Things have changed, the socialist party is now called the Democrat party, the democrat party is now the republican party. We are dumbing down our leadership and swinging as a whole to the left. Our children will soon find out how the Roman empire fell firsthand.

there was clearly a shift after southern dems lost the civil rights battle... am I sad that dems aren't racist bastards anymore... not really...

and I think he would feel at home in today's party, he was the beginning of the change... I mean he's a Kennedy for Christsakes... don't give me this "Republicans love him" crap...

I mean he had more in common with Clinton than almost any other modern president... down to the womanizing... if the Republican party was busy busting JFK's b*lls over his women like they did with Clinton, who knows how the missile crisis would have turned out...

I believe he would be with Joe Lieberman. The democrat party today is nothing like it used to be. I believe even LBJ would have become a Republican.

Political parties change over time. The Repub. party is not the party of Gerald Ford anymore. The Dems are re-defining themselves. There is no way of knowing how a Pres. who died in 1963 would align himself today.

Todays democrats are nowhere near yesterdays quality (JFK,TRUMAN,FDR)....

Even Ed Kennedy, JFK's brother isnt.

JFK would be ashamed of todays democrats.

But then Reagan & other great GOP'ers would be similarly ashamed of aspects of todays gop too.
