Most power companies will gladly do it. In fact, they appreciate being informed of the potential issue, before it becomes a problem. If you just have a limb or two that are at issue, they probably will not take down the entire tree for you. But they will trim it up so it is not on the power line.
Call em up.

yes you can ask the company and more importantly you really should do it asap. many people are under the false assumption that the tree will not conduct electricity, however with even a little bit of rain the branch touch a high tension line could cause people to be killed any where near the base of the tree. Be very care full and don't even think of cutting the branch by your self. It is simply too dangerous

I know in PA the power company will come out and remove trees that encroach on power lines. It will not hurt to contact your power supplier and ask. Normally there is not charge for it but it will depend on your state and company. They would prefer to do it before there is a problem most times like a storm that takes out the whole neighborhood because of a branch that broke off.

You don't mention an important little fact here. Is this the line along the road in front of your property or the line from the pole transformer to your house. If it's the first, then yes, they'll cut it back for you at no charge as a rule. If it's the line from the transformer to your house, nope. Their responsibility ends at the transformer. That line from there to the house belongs to you. It's your responsibility. They may come out to do it for you, but they'll charge you for it.

You personal the resources yet they personal the easement. it really is probable a city code or something you neglected. they could sparkling timber interior a particular distance of the lines. it really is for your income that it really is done because if a tree damages between the lines you'd be on the hook for the cost to fix it {in the experience that they prefer to emphasize the difficulty}. My skill organization were given a city ordinance exceeded that allowed them to decrease limbs off interior 10 ft of the easement {on my resources}. The easement is 10 ft from the line so that they were given a 20 correct of thanks to trim. I informed them the in basic terms way you would possibly want to attempt it really is in case you decrease the entire tree down as i do not favor a lopsided tree in my backyard, and that i don't like it falling on my abode. The tree is on my resources and also you would possibly want to't decrease it with no court docket order. They took one down then after a lot debate they took the different value to me 0. i might want to signify you now to not get anal about this because with the stroke of a pen they could take that part of your resources by eminent area.

In Florida they just cut the tree around the wire. They do not cut the tree down. There are so many trees that are protected here that while they will trim it away from the wire, they won't touch it otherwise.
