What kinda jobs do marketing people really do?

Im about to major in marketing in UBC, but What kinda jobs do marketing people really do? Like after graduation, what can i do with marketing degree? Whats the expected annual income?

I was a marketing major in college... and as it turned out, the most available positions for that background were in sales - which was the one aspect of marketing that I wasn't really into. Advertising, market research, consulting are all available options, but they do not make up the biggest percentage of jobs available. I am now an office administrator, but I continued my education and sought out that field specifically. My marketing background just gives me a bit of an edge because of the accounting and economic/business information I acquired while in school.

You can get a job with a big corporation, marketing their products. My nephew is in London right now and has a fabulous job with a large corporation, marketing their products. He makes a very large salary. However, I think you would need your Master's degree for most companies.

Lots of people with a marketing background work in advertising, either in-house in a big corporation or in an advertising agency. They track and project sales figures, research new areas for sales, run customer response surveys and test the effectiveness of various forms of advertising.

Marketing is basically selling, and it just depends on the type of company as to what type of selling they prefer and/or which style is best for that industry.
