"25 or 6 to 4" is a song written by Robert Lamm for the band Chicago. Chicago fans have long argued about the real meaning of the song. Many theories said that much of the lyrics related to drugs (specifically LSD). Lamm himself says that the title is "just a reference to the time of day," and that "the song is about writing a song. It's not mystical."

A friend of mine from years ago (big Chicago fan) said that the band was struggling with a last song trying to finish an album. The song IS actually about the difficulty they had writing that last song. Ironic.
"25 or 6 to 4" -- 25 or 26 minutes 'til 4AM. The song makes several references to trying to stay awake, in order to finish the song and therefore the album.

I always thought it had something to do with musical 'time' in songwriting.... you know, like the rhythm or the beat or something like that....
