Can someone please explain the logic of an abortion? When a person has sex, they know that one of the consequenses from having sex is the possibility of becoming pregnant. You would have to be the most naive person in the world not to know this. If you do not want to have children, then don't have sex or at least lower your chances by using birth control! And if you still can't raise a kid, there is always adoption! I do think that women who are raped or have a risky pregnancy should be allowed to have an abortion but other than that it's just wrong. I mean someone can keep having sex, keep getting pregnant, then saying 'Oh well! There's always abortion!' It's sick!I believe people should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it does not affect another person's life and abortion effect's an unborn child. Most people don't believe in abortion due to religious reasons, well I don't believe in abortion for logical reasons.

I agree with you.

That said - It's not just "logical reasons" that bring you to this conclusion. In fact, you're basing your argument on the fact that the unborn child is considered to be a life of its own, whereas it's medically impossible that at early stages of pregnancy a child can survive independently. Therefore many consider the unborn life as something akin to an anatomic appendage to the woman's body, such as an organ, or a parasite. They don't think an abortion will harm a human being, in the same sense as they don't think having your liver removed harms your life if you could have problems not undergoing surgery.

On the other hand, I don't understand why someone can reject abortion on "religious reasons". Anyone can value the life of the unborn child and despise murder, whether they're religious or not. The difference to religious people is that they think any living human has a "soul". But this soul is "immortal", hence it would go on "living" even after an abortion. Hence the "immortal" (i.e. the religious part) part of the unborn child wouldn't be affected by the abortion, so the religious concern would be unjustified. What do you think?

The logic of an abortion is that it solves the problem. It terminates an unwanted pregnancy and prevents an unwanted childbirth.

Taking a baby to term doesn't solve the problem of needing to end a pregnancy. Giving a child up for adoption doesn't solve the problem of needing to avoid childbirth. You might not have these needs should you accidentally get pregnant, but there are many others who would.

Abortion is for people who no longer have preventative measures available to them. Most people have sex for reasons other that of making babies, and the most they can do is "lower their chances" of pregnancy.

Your reasons for not believing in abortion aren't logical reasons; they're moral ones. For example, the statement that "people should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it does not affect another person's life" is a moral statement.

Edit:

cj, No, I don't think that murder, etc., should be allowed. You say you think that women who are raped should be allowed to have an abortion. Are you condoning murder?

Of course you aren't. My answer holds up fine.

I'd like to see how you would take it if you ever got HIV. I know I would say to you; "You knew you could get it before you did it, so you got what you deserved, just suffer through it". Don't act as if you are perfect because you aren't, no one is. We all make bad decisions and sometimes bad things happen. Rape in this case shouldn't be an excuse for having an abortion. There is always adoption right? Wouldn't that be just as selfish as another woman getting an abortion? The baby didn't rape her, nor will it come out as the devil's spawn.

Should we have to suffer for the rest of our lives just because we did so? Should you be denied a cure to HIV because you made the decision to have sex? A baby is a part of your body, it feeds off of you like a parasite. In a way it is one. In the end, shouldn't you have the decision whether or not you want to give birth to it or not?

You're describing the ideal situation in which abortion should NOT be considered. When it's used as a BC method.
There are other situations besides rape or incest that can warrant it, though. My sister had a rapidly growing cancerous tumor on her cervix that could not be dealt with until her pregnancy was over. But it tumor grew so quickly she had to make a choice. Her baby or her life. She already had a child, and he is happy to still have his mother.
Try not to be so judgemental. There but for the grace of God goes you, too.

I agree that abortion as "birth control" mechanism is indeed disgusting.

People who are unable to control their reproduction are normally stupid. By allowing them to have an abortion we lower the number of stupid people. Crime started to fall dramatically exactly 18 years after abortion was legalized. Not to say that all aborted children would have been criminals, but the percentage of criminals born from stupid people is higher than criminals from smart people.

Darwin would agree. We are actually saving the world from stupidity.

I agree with you..but I will add that kids shouldnt have kids either. I know a 13 year old that's pregnant..and her mom won't let her get an abortion, and I know her life is just going to be very difficult after she has that kid, it's one thing to be a adult and raising a kid, it's another when your a kid raising a kid.

I agree with you may I add one more to the list if the child has severe deformities and will not survive birth. I would never do it but under limited circumstances yes but for the rest I just don't get it! I have never been that drunk or dumb.

I agree with you, but if you've never been overcome with sudden passion you can't understand it. I hadn't ever until I was going with my current b/f for awhile, and one night he playfully jumped on top of me, and then we kissed, and it was like something inside us broke loose, and we made wild passionate love from midnight until 4 AM without stopping. If a couple get wild with passion they can't think of birth control or anything else but loving each other to pieces.

YOU GO GIRL
every one clap ur hands, you said what I been wanting to say, good for you, you have the best answer for your question.

The souls of people are the thoughts of God
When God thinks, he thinks kids
When god breathes into his thoughts they become Spirit

When God breathes things start living
When God inhales live comes back to him.

God don't lose babies, all them babies are in haven, learning about God, these babies are growing, and perhaps some day their mother may see what they gave up.
