and asked to talk to someone about the quite limited response by Y!A about gay bashing, slurs, threats, religious spamming... would it do much good?

Ok, I don't have time today, but it's crosses my mind periodically. :)

This isn't a seriously contemplated thing I'd take time out of my day to do. Geeze!

I think you should! I have reported many gay bashing, slurs, threats, religious spamming questions/posts, rarely is anything done about it. Maybe we should all write Y!A a letter telling them how pissed we are... Not that it would do any good. Honestly, I think you going in there would be a waste of time, I doubt they care. Sad, but true.

Would you want Yahoo to be policing the appropriateness of what people say? If it had to do that, we would have free speech issues and Yahoo would have to shut this down. We need to police the community ourselves and hopefully Yahoo provides some community moderation tools so we can help rate people's comments and build a reputation. Yahoo has created a fun site that is useful - don't blame it for the small percentage of people who are jerks.

I don't think it would do much good but if you prefaced it with a bomb threat you might get their attention but that would take a major portion of the next 10 to 15 years.
LOL

Sounds like something I would do except for the bomb threat.

Yahoo doesn't seem to be real sympathetic to gay people in general, so I would have to say that NO....you will more than likely NOT get any help, or response from them.

I just wish they would put up an Ignore list like they do for their message boards so you wouldn't even have to see certain people have even posted a question, answer or whatever.

Go right to the horse's mouth, so to speak. Good idea.

Give it a try.

Good Luck and I mean that sincerely.
