Get on Word and type yourself a study sheet, it helps, then from there use your study sheet to study, you are already familiar with the material since you just typed it.

Break it up into parts. It is easier to study something if you arent studying the whole thing all at once, that can be overwhelming. Studying with a friend always helps too. Just make sure you stay on task, and save the fun stuff for after studying.

What I used to do is get a could of highliters (Yellow and green) and go through the book first marking important parts. Then I would go through it again and mark the REALLY important phrases, words, themes out of what I marked the first time, with the other color.

Then when studying I just concentrated on these areas...marked in Yellow and Yellow+Green. I ignored the rest. This made it less overwhelming. If I happened to miss something in my mark-ups, oh well...I had these parts down cold.

I never did worse then a B by doing this.

Good Luck

You could always do what I do, since its a story you could organize a stude group with your friends and discuss about the story.

Or you could search for a study guide on yahoo. Search for (book) study guide.

For shorter stories I would get post it notes and for each page write a summery. For longer ones each chapter a paragraph or two. It worked for me. Good luck.

for a story, create a notes sheet in which you list the following:

title
author
characters: protagonist and antagonist
setting
plot - summary of what happened
conflicts - what were they and how were they resolved
climax
theme

when you can answer all of these easily, you're ready!
