Yes lots of years ago but its still true that the rails are the way to travel Europe.
I went all over the place from Norway to Greece, and ended up in Paris for about a week, loving walking around the city. Go while you are young enough and have the time. Stay in cheap hotels and meet the real people.

I'm from Europe, Macedonia, but I travelled around it during college. Before that I only had the chance to visit Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Croatia. But last year I was in Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and all the exYugoslav republics. Spain was the place for me!!!
Hope you'll have the chance to go on that kind of trip
good luck and have fun

Yes. I traveled to Switzerland, and it was great. I visited Maienfeld, Zurich, Bern, and others. I was able to visit Europe for free because a family member was paid to sing there. I've wanted to go back ever since I left.
