Don't cut yourself again! I had many scars on my arms, and numerous scars from a skateboarding accident. I had a chunk of skin taken out my hip when I hit pavement. It was pretty bad, you could see the bone. I didn't go to the hospital, so I didn't get stitches or anything. That was my worst scar. My mom always tells me to use vitamin E oil to help heal scars. It's been about 6 years since the accident and it's a lot less visible. Our scars are different types though. Some. You can try to get laser treatment, or something, I suppose. But don't hurt yourself again, and there are products that may help. Just don't expect them to work miracles. Over time you'll see a difference.

Time is the only true thing to help scars fade. You can try Mederma for scars, or see a dermatologist about treatments, some including laser treatment, to help remove your scars. Sometimes, tanning will help. If its just for a special occasion, you can use a little bit of foundation (makeup) to cover them up. Just find a color that is your shade of skintone at the drug store. There's nothing wrong with wearing cover up to hide your scars. Now, if you buy eyeliner or lipstick to go with it, then I'd start to wonder...

If you can afford laser treatment, see a specialist.
If not, buy a sublingual scar formula from the health food store, but it takes much longer. Be patient. And rub it with vitamin E cream every day. Cutting yourself again will make it worse, don't be masochistic. Love yourself.

you can't get rid of scars with creams and any other over the counter product. why?
the scars are located on the lower layer of your skin, the dermis. creams and other products cannot penetrate to this layer.
the only real way to get rid of scars is to have plastic surgery.

cutting yourself again in the same spot will not help you get rid of the scar. it might make your scar bigger. it will also take more time to heal.
