You never know when a baby is coming. I know that its scary, but wait until the contractions are like 5 min. apart and yes usually the Dr will tell you to back home. Beside when is her due date?

The baby is trying to come without being induced. This use to be reguarded as a good thing. It still is good because it is how nature intended it to be. The baby should come within the next couple days. It is becomming a habit of doctors to induce when a lot of times it is not necessary and can stess the baby if it is done too soon. Go as long as necessary before you get induced. Let nature take its course.

Some people are dilated a few centimeters weeks before giving birth. The water breaking or being dilated like over 4-5 centimeters would warrant going to the hospital for delivery.

First of all, why was she scheduled to be induced? I was induced because I had some high albumine and it is risky for both me and the baby if we waited any longer...
But if there was no real risk, then it's better that your niece stayed at home waiting for the contraction to be closer and stronger... I had to stay in the hospital due to the induction, and I sure as hell wished that I was home in my bath during my first 10 hours of contractions!
Congratulation on your soon to be great-niece/nephew!

unlike the other people on here i am confused to why he sent her home instead of still given her the meds to induce labor.you can be dilated for weeks without going into actual labor...i not only know from my own experience..but my sister also went through the same thing...she was dilated at one for 2 weeks!!she was induced after being 2 weeks past due date!!if i were your niece i would have told the DR. to go ahead with the meds!congrats!

There is no sense in waiting at the hospital when you can wait at home and she has a long way to to go. Maybe tomorrow sometime you will have a great niece or nephew

My Doctor did the same thing and I went into labor the next morning. It is a natural form of induction. Tell her to go walking this should help speed thing up if she is ready to deliver. Good Luck!!
