Usually is us as wife's, but sometimes the husband ....
But I know several friends that take away all the pay check from the husband & spend the money shopping for her or kids & the husband only keeps $20 for gas $10 to spend until next pay check ...Is this fair ????
If both husband & wife work then the money should be spend because is both $$$ to use on house payment or rent & house bills & to spend for the family needs... I'm incharged at home of the bills, groceries, clothes, & to save money too!!! & my hubby has access to a credit card for emergencies but we both share our $$$ for family needs as it should be .... Or how does it has to be, who needs to be handle the $$$$ & should husband keep only certain $$$ for better control ???

In my marriage, my husband and I both have our own savings, checking and credit accts but we have one joint account we both put equal amounts to as we both work. The joint acct is used for paying the bills, buying household items and such. This was an agreed upon arrangement, even before we got married because my husband is the bigger spender of us two and we like to keep emergency money for "just in casers".
As far as who handles the bills, we divide up who gets to pay what each month. For our mortgage, we both put in equal amounts. All the household bills and such we take out of our joint acct.

Split the financial responsibility on an equitable basis. For example if the split on income is 50/50 the pay all the bills 50/50, but in you make 60% of the income then you should pay 60% of the bills.
As far as the logistics of getting the bills paid, leave that to who's better at it, or divide them up but pay from a joint checking. Also and keep separate accounts. It is impossible to do anything special for your partner if they have to give you the money do do it. ie buy flowers ..
Peace

My husband doesn't want to deal with the money, it's pain in the *** to keep track and pay bills on time, he knows I am better at it. Although I always check with him when I am about to for example pay the property tax, or pay off a debt so he knows why the account is all of a sudden much lower.
It's all about who is more capable and up for the challenge.
And you have a warped sense of who has "better control" of money, just because you know of a few women that spend too much money (and you don't even know that for a fact unless you are looking over their bank statements) doesn't mean they are all like that. I know of many women including myself that budget our husbands income very well and conservatively.

If they both work they need to have an agreement on how money should be spent. All bills must be paid before anything else is done with the money. Then after bills are paid they can decide what else to spend the rest of the money on.
My husband is the only one working and it is still a mutual agreement on what the money is spent on after the bills have been paid.

I'd say that's the man's job. He makes the money, it's reasonable he should control it, however, only in the best interest of the family.
If one is better at it than the other though, that's who should be handling the money. They both should be making major decisions together on how it is spent, saved etc.

Actually we both do we put our money together and pay our bills and what's left we put up or split..Neither one of us controls all the money..We've always shared equally..I guess I'm one of the lucky ones..
