We don't necessarily hate individual Americans - just the brash, bombastic, ignorant jerks. We can't stand US foreign policy, so we despise your government. Maybe you could do something about it ....

If you mean, why do people outside of the US hate you?
Well, they don't. They don't hate you. They dislike US foreign policy which show little respect for the fact that the world is made up of over 200 nations and cultures that go back in many cases thousands of yours. They often dislike act first and listen second.
I'm not making a political comment here, but when Bill Clinton said, "if you want a friend, you have to be a friend" he got it spot on. Have a look at some of the websites below for informed opinion on what the world thinks about the US.
Want to help. Get informed and then vote for what you believe in.

I´m not from the United States and I do not hate you.
But...
I certainly don´t sympathise with some characteristics that make "americans" (meaning northamericans) look so unpopular to the rest of the world.
Example? Ignorance about other countries, cultures, people... Summing up: ignorance and disrespect to anything that is not included within United States territory.

Because of the way the US Army/Government treats them and others?
It is unfortunate but many people paint Americans with the same brush, (a bit like what many people are doing vis-a-vis Muslime) associating individual Americans with their Government/Army (afterall the first time could have been a mistake, but the second term for Mr Bush was a conscious decision by the American people).
Check this out (at your own risks), it might give you an idea.

I'm guessing you mean "Why do people outside America HATE us?" These days, simply because we present such an aggressive and intolerant extremist right-wing fanatical Christian fascist face to the world while at the same time we say we don't like "Islamic fascists;" we are, essentially, the pot calling the kettle black.

We dont hate all americans; I've met some on holiday in both their country, other countries and my own, and 9 times out of 10 they are a nice person; Yes you get the occasional jackass but no more so than here in the UK :)
We do, however, hate your political figures, namely George Bush

I live in the UK and I don't hate americans! You mustn't tar everyone with the same brush because there are always going to get people that are ignorant and racist against other nationalities but I'm proud to say that I'm not nor are people I know so take solace in knowing that these type of people are in the minority!

We don't hate you, it would be ridiculous to hate a whole bunch of people without having met them - we hate your Government (both parties, they're both pulled by the same puppeteers), we don't like the way your strongest cultural icons are the likes of Burger King/McDonald's, Nike, Gun Culture, Pepsi/Coke and the CIA. We don't like the way you'll train a bunch of 'freedom fighters' in one generation & then call them 'terrorists' and expect our troops & govt. to support your Conquistadors kicking their arses 10 years later!
We also don't like your govt. using our land as bases for your nuclear weapons.
We don't all want to use 'tablets' for washing our clothes & dishes, or have to put up with cr4p service in shops & aforementioned fast-food outlets, as a result of your 'cultural' exports.
Oh, but we love your movies & the Simpsons.
Like 'Meet the Fockers' - I'm more of a Hoffman than a De NIro, I guess!

Jealousy. I'd like to live in a country with wide open spaces, big houses, friendly people, film stars, swimming pools, good weather, lots of food.
