The famous philosopher, Descartes, walks into a bar. The bartender asks, "Can I get you a drink?"

Descartes replies, "I think not." and disappears!!

It was the philosopher Descartes who said, "I think, therefore I am." That's why the joke is funny, but only the first time you hear it.

The first time I heard it was on "Babylon 5" as spoken by Alfred Bester, but I'm sure it's much older than that.

I think Descartes himself is the author of this joke. Infact he was more fond of telling this joke than cogito ergo sum.
