Does this look really bad? I have an in-grown toenail(right side) and it has a small opened wound there, I know it is infected, but is it serious?

in the picture the wound looks bad, but it was just bleeding when i took the pic.

Yes it's serious. Your desk is a mess!!!
Ok, seriously, as someone else already said, an open wound on the toenail will invite an infection or fungus. See your doctor and keep it very clean and dry in the mean time.

Clean it with soap and warm water. Follow up with providine (that brownish stuff they clean everything with at the hospital--you can buy it at Wal-Mart or the drugstore). Let it air dry and keep your socks off as much as possible for 24 hours. If it looks worse, see the doctor. If it helps, repeat that process until it gets better. To help prevent them in the future, grow your toenail a little longer and trim it straight across. If you still have problems, try putting a notch in the center of your toe nail. the notch has worked about 15 years for me. Best of luck!

Theres no doubt about it. It is infected the redness means that you need a antibiotic. It will only get worse. I bet it hurts alot also. You have to see a doctor for a antibioitc He will numb your toe and get the sliver of toenail out that is in grown. You must see a doc and soon! My sons just looked like yours and thats what he had to have done.

No it is nothing to bad. To stop ingrown toe nails you must let the nail grow out and over the skin. When you trim your nail never pull the skin if it is attached then cut it. Your feet need to be clean and dry for this to heal properly. Get an ointment from your local Ekerts that has antibiotics in it.

Yup, time to see the foot doctor. They may have to do minor surgery. They will also give you medicine to clear up the infection. It will get alot worse if left untreated. Did you know that most people get toenail fungus due to an injury to the nail (such as yours)? Need I say more?

You really need to go see a Dr. to take care of that, especially if you are diabetic. Don't let the infection get out of control. You may need an antibiotic. It looks painful!

NASTY!! You need to soak it in HOT water & peroxide and let it draw out the infection... It looks bad, I bet you need an antibiotic. Try soaking and if it doesn't get A LOT after a couple of soaks, go to the Dr.

cut that part of toe nail off. keep clean, put aloe vera on it,keep you toe nails cut straught instead of roundeing them, and not cut so short, so it wont happen again.
