Long story short my younger brother(22yrs old) got jumped for his I Pod and he asked me to help him get it back or at least get the guys back......he was smacked around pretty good but not seriuosly hurt.
My wife wants to just let the cops handle it but I cant do that. She is my wife and I understand she has a right to voice her opinion but he is my brother and is asking for my help so I feel obligated.
This is causing a problem between us because she thinks that I should be past the days of fighting and I agree but if you beat on ANYONE in my family then all the rules go out the door.
How can I make her understand my side?
To me there isnt even an option as to what i should do?

I totally understand her concerns about this possibly leading to more problems but I would never be able to look my bro in the face again if I didnt help him ( physically )

Explain to your wife that the police will probably toss these guys in the can overnight and write them a ticket, if anything at all happens. Also explain to her that you would be even more upset and seek a reckoning if the victim were her. It's all about protecting the ones you love.

If you can't realize how your so-called "helping" is immature, then I'm sure you didn't listen to any teachers back then. Fighting isn't an option in society; you can't just start wailing on a bunch of kids, okay? You're 22 and apparently MARRIED. Take everyone else's advice, and grow up some. You've got a lot more responsibilities. Since they did it, they should be turned into the police, which will teach them an ADEQUATE lesson to not do that sh*t anymore, and your brother gets his iPod back. You don't need to do anything physical, okay? This isn't a sport; you're not wrestling, you're not boxing, and thankfully you're not doing that stupid UFC crap (bleh), so do NOT handle this with force. Let the cops actually do something for once instead of pulling you over to give you a ticket. By the way, the fact that he got jumped usually means that he's hanging with the wrong crowd. Judging from your mindset, I think I'm making an accurate inference.

Your wife loves you and is scared for your life.....Yes you could be hurt, but did you ever give thought to the fact you could end up dead too? I bet your wife has and this scares her more than you know.
In today's society people just dont get into fights anymore......teens and adults alike carry around guns.......so, lets say you go after these guys on behalf of your brother and they pull some guns on you and and faster than you can blink you are shot.....what good are you going to do your brother then? You can't do anything or help anyone if you are dead can you? Then lets think about how your wife would feel.......do you know that devestation she would be dealing with? The broken heart, the emptiness, lonliness......all because of one decision you made.
You must rememer the decisions you make will effect not only you but all those around you........family, friends, your wife, and children if you have or are planning any........in one brief moment all that could be wiped out so, why take the risk of that happening? I do understand your wanting to help your brother and get those low life's for hurting your brother.......but in the end if something does happen to you would it really be worth it?
The best thing you could do for your brother is let the cops handle this..... oh he might get upset and not understand at first, but I believe in the end he would rather have his big brother around than have him get hurt or killed .... besides that ipod can be replaced.......your life cant.

Hmmmm...I think if your brother was under the age of say, 16 or so then I'd sort of feel like being on your side. But if my husband (who also has a 22 year old younger brother) were in your situation I'd have to say "Darling, he's 22 years old and can take care of himself. Trying to get revenge is just immature and pointless."
Not to mention, it would probably make your brother embarrassed. If you were in high school and it was some pride thing, aka "My Big Brother is gonna beat the crap out of you" it's somewhat understandable and an ego thing. But at age 22? EMBARRASSING. Let the cops deal with it.

Sounds like your wife is pretty mature and you have forgotten what the word means. Your brother should not have asked this of you. What will happen if you and your brother go after the punks who took his IPod? Will they decide to get revenge against you? That will put you and your wife in danger. Where does the revenge end? You might say that after you get your revenge it will be over, but will the other party feel the same way? You are opening a can of worms here. You are not the only one who may have to deal with the consequenses. I hope she never understands your side because it is childish and will probably get her into trouble.

Your attitude is admirable but not practical. If you know who did the deed you should tell the cops and let them handle it. It won't help you to get into it with the perpretators because it can lead to serious problems which obviously your wife wants to avoid. You could end up in jail for who knows what charges. When that happens it is going to cost you big time. Simmer down and look at the big picture.

Hate to say it, cause I feel your pain, but the chick is right on this one. There is still the small possibility that you could get shot or beat down in a bad way and leave her hurting. I would probably feel the same as you if spots were reversed, but as a observer...call the cops.

How your bro got so stupid to be involved in any physical fight.
This is not solving problem to get revenge the same way and only can have more difficult consequences in the future.
Maybe is better to check if the problem was solved and is over with the other guy.

go stand up for your little brother, you don't even have to fight them (if they're under 18 and you touch them you're F UCKED, or they could press charges, etc.) here's what i would do. i'd grab a baseball bat and just scare the living crap out of them. i'd just verbally assault them and not physically hurt them because it could come back on me. i would just scream in their face that if they ever even look at my brother again i'll shove this bat right up your *** after i beat the living **** out of you. scream this while waving the bat right next to their face. lol you don't have to fight ( so your wife won't hate u) but you can still stand up for your little bro that way ! yay i'm a freakin genius! lol
