A witch is someone who uses witchcraft; this is the use of lower forms of magic, or indigenous magic, as apposed to higher magic such as ceremonial magic the likes of Golden Dawn where there is more ritual involved. Witchcraft tends to use a lot of folk magic or divination over formalised ritual.

Witchcraft is not a religious practice in itself, however it is incorporated into many peoples religious practices, Wicca is the better known religion to use witchcraft as Wicca use witchcraft as their main practice, but witchcraft is also within Christianity, Judaism, and a number of other religions, as well as practiced by atheists and agnostics. Some would argue it is preferable to use magic like witchcraft outside of a religion so to go via knowledge of the universe rather than on belief of how the universe works.

Wicca is a hard-polytheist Pagan religion, specifically it is an oath-bound initiate only priesthood that is based upon a Pagan mystery tradition, or in other words it is a priesthood where one has to be initiated to learn the beliefs, practices, and doctrines, as well as the mysteries and gods that they follow. Wicca is based largely upon the use of both lower magic such as witchcraft and higher magics such as Golden Dawn, thus many Wicca will simply call themselves witches.

Wiccans sometimes call themselves Witches because most Wiccans practice Witchcraft, but there are many types of Witchcraft. There are Christian Witches and Jewish Witches and Huna Witches and Voudou Witches, etc. It refers to the practice of magick or witchcraft.

Apart from casting spells, Wicca is about the belief in a God and a Goddess that created and come from Nature.

Being Pagan myself, I think I am at a little better vantage point to answering your question than the closed-minded zealots who have frequented your posting.

"Wicca" is the name of the religion of witchcraft that involves the worshiping of a God and/or Goddess along with performing spells and rituals. A person who follows the religion of Wicca is called a witch. Since the word "witch" has such a negative connotation, meaning that many people think it's not a nice word, lots of witches have taken to calling themselves Wiccans. A person has to follow Wicca in order to be called a witch. I call myself Pagan because, while I am involved in magick and ritual and the worship of my Goddess, I do not practice Wicca. Therefore, I am not a witch. To get an idea of the difference, comparing a Wiccan to a Pagan is like comparing a Catholic to a Baptist. Different practices of the same big faith.

A witch is a sorceress of no particular religion. A Wiccan is a member of the Wiccan religion.

Wicca's claim it is a "religion" that practices as a good witch. I study different religions as a hobby; I am a nurse by trade. I will tell you this. They are of darkness/evil/ and of Satan's side himself. I know for a fact as I write this there will be some to disagree with me; but I have studied this and I have went through this phase with my own daughter (Gothic/vampire/witch) with her) I have seen first hand of the evil it can and has done. Be warned of the Dark side..Wicca-Witch, it is all the same either way. It is is NOT a religion, they just say that to make it sound good/"Good Witch". Yeah, right..lol! Who are they kidding?

As far as I know (I have a friend who is Wiccan), witches aren't real and Wicca is a religion. Goth kids who want to be cool call themselves witches. Wiccans who actually follow the religion don't call themselves witches. It's kinda like calling a little person a midget,

Wicca is the religion, a witch is someone who follows it.

Don't worry about it, don't think about it, get away from it and just leave it alone. It's all of the darkness, and leave it to the dark people.
