If I log into my Messenger, or try to access a web page, I will more often than not, get a message like "Windows- Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000017). Click on OK to terminate the application." Also, I'm getting at least 1000 cookies every day, no matter how much I delete them, they always come back in floods.

You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster

You probably need to get Windows Updates to fix things.

try this :

click on start, click on RUN.

it will pullup a box. type in : MSCONFIG

and click on OK.

That will pullup a screen system utilities. On the top right corner of the screen , you'll find an option that says STARTUP. Click on that. Now, at the bottom of the screen you'll find an option that says Disable All. Click on that. Click on Apply. Click on Close. you'll get a prompt to restart your computer. Restart your computer. That should fix it. (the application error).

And the cookies...get an anti spyware installed on your comp. Like spybot or norton etc. n get a firewall installed too.

I would suggest getting a current antivirus program and also getting a mal ware app to search for malicious programs. You can also download a freed malware scanner from microsoft. But it sould like you have spyware, virus, mal ware, ect. It is not a problem with your internet connection but your computer itself is infected in some way.
