Global warming:
What they should be doing is leading the way with emmision reductions and developing a different lifestyle to cope with the changing status of the planet.

Poverty:
The USA should not attach interest rates for IMF relief, it is like making a profit from poverty.

The development of China as a superpower.
China's population is so large their entrance into world economies means a giant drop in resources (ie 65% of the world's concrete production went to China last year) If they begin to use power in the same way as the USA global warming will happen at a much much faster rate. The USA needs to lead by example and reduce relience on fossil fules, reduce consumption of finite commodities.

You could put terrorism in there but if the planet self distructs it isn't really an issue.
Hope this helps

Power concentrated in the hands of so few, any religion and faith based ideology, fallibility of human nature.
Unfortunately, the controlling influences of the US are at the centre of all 3 of these issues:
1 Massive corporate power with no accountability, but a direct line to the president (whoever it is)
2 Completely misguided decision making because people believe the guff in the bible, koran or whatever else, rather than scientific fact/research/discovery
3 Human nature - there's always gonna be @$$holes!!!

Here's a totally serious answer:
1. whats for breakfast.
(Food Security is a serious issue around the world. Can we maintain ample food supplies in the face of growing populations, fading soil, and problems with insect populations, alien invasive plant species, etc.
2. Can I get a drink?
(Water is even more precarious than food. Probably a billion people have no clean water at all. Water supplies in many parts of the world are nearly exhausted.)
3. Is it going to rain?
(see 1 and 2, and also, what about Global warming!)

Access 2 clean water.
Access 2 adequate food
& clean unpolluted air 2 breathe.
What else is there that's more important than those 3 issues?

America ( or the West in general ) needs 2 spread it's wealth, technology & health care around.
If it's that damn wealthy, it could spare a slice 4 the less fortunate of this world.
