The electric company will not transfer my service to a new address without paying the old amount. Do you know of a company that will provide service if I owe another company money. I will pay the old company next month, but need service at my new address. Is there a company that you could suggest?

Ask them if they would work with you to put you on a budget. If they refuse, then try another electric company listed in your phonebook. If you have problems with that there are only two other things i can think of, ask a good friend or family member to get their name put on WITH yours and then remove their name as soon as you get caught up, and/or check with your local utility help office, the local assistance office should be able to direct you to them.

Generally most utility companies will work with you and extend a credit agreement to you, if you contact them in advance of the bill becoming past due. If you wait until they are ready to turn off your power or in your case want a change in service before asking for the credit extension for a past due amount, they will not have much sympathy for your plight.

They will not transfer your account unless you pay in full. If they are the provider in your area, no one else will be able to supply you with electricity. This happened to our renters and they had no A/C for two weeks. No power of any kind. You may be able to get them to accept a payment plan, depending on how much you owe.

You could pay the old electric company as much as you can afford right now to satisfy there greeedy ***'s. Call and negociate with them to transfer your service; as long as they see some money it shouldn't be such a problem.

No. Electric companies have a monopoly and are not forgiving about overdue bills. See if someone will loan you the money for a little while.

Pay your old bill first. Borrow some money from your family or friends.
