I'm pregnant 41/2 months and it has being rainin & ligthning alot lately the past week , my grand'ma told me to to wear a safety pin in my belly to protect the baby from the ligthning so nothing bad will happend to the baby,,,,Is this true I have never heard of this before... :)

well, I've heard of something like that , but you only put the safety pin when there is an eclipse....not for lightening.....try asking your grandma about that....

Hey, I think you are being led astray. I have an Engineering Electronics degree and have worked with electronics for 37 years. You DO NOT want any metal on your body when lightning is near or a strike is possible. Metal attracts lightening. (Look at the number of golfers who have died because they wanted to finish a round before the storm hit !!!)
Whether a safety pin would draw a strike is debatable, but don't take a chance. It could kill you and the unborn child.

I think that may be an old wives tale....besides isn't lightening attracted to metal objects?
Although I do believe it would be a long shot to have a safety pin attract one.

never hears of it, but I am only 23 years old. Sounds funny though. But I am confused, wouldn't you want the lightning to go away from your belly? The metal next to you would cause the lightning to come close to you.

I've never heard of that wither but my mother told my wife not to stretch her arms above her head because it would strangle our unborn so.n
