There have been many cases of royal persons loving commoners during the centuries...
I'll give you a few of the most recent....
Princess Margaret (sister of Queen Elizabeth of England). First fell in love with a man named Townsend, who she was not allowed to marry. She ended up marrying Anthony Armstrong-Jones, who was a photographer. Her sister the queen, conceded him a title and named him Lord Snowden...But he was not of royal blood.
Queen Elizabeths children have married commoners
Prince Charles first wife Diana, was of the lesser nobility, his second wife Camilla Parker Bowles is also of the lesser nobility.
Princess Anne first married Mark Philips, a lietenant in the Queens Dragoons, but a commoner none the less. The divorced in 1992 and whe subsequently remarried another commoner... Royal Navy Commander Timothy Laurence.
Prince Andrew, Duke of York married another commoner, Sarah Ferguson, in 1986, the marriage lasted ten years...
Prince Edward married Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999 she is a "cousin" of the royal family (eleventh cousin onece removed).
The most notorious morganatic marriage was in the early 20th. century, when King Edward VIII of England abdicated to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, an american divorcée. (Evidently, this was the case of a MAN marrying outside royalty)
.
Also both daughters of King Juan Carlos of Spain have married commoners... the Infanta Elena married Jaime de Marichalar in 1995, and the Infanta Cristina married Iñaki Urdangarín in 1997..
The most recent was Princess Sayako, the younger sister of the heir to the Throne of Japan, who married a commoner in 2005. Because of this marriage she lost her title of princess.
However she has just given birth to a son about two weeks ago, and the baby is now the second in the line of succesion, after the crown prince.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has an "unofficial" relationship with a commoner, Daniel Westling who is her "personal trainer".
And Princess Martha Louise of Norway married Ari Behns, a commoner in 2002.
Crown Prince Haakon of Norway also married a commoner Mette Marit, who besides being a commoner was an unwed mother of a 4 year old son. (Her childs father was a drug runner). This relationship caused rather a nasty uproar all over Europe, but he married her anyway, and they now have 2 children of their own...

This could apply to King Edward VIII. He fell in love with an American divorcee, met with resistance from the establishment and was forced to abdicate the throne before he could marry her.
She wasn't a 'commoner' though, still some society lasy and the same can be said of Victoria and Elizabeth I's lovers, they were still Lords and members of the aristocracy.

For you to ask if there's EVER been a case like this is like asking if apples come from an Apple tree. You could pretty much assume that a damn royal woman fell for a common man sometime in the THOUSANDS of years we've been on this planet.

I believe it was Queen Victoria. She had a lover whom she named as head of a particular order she created. There was some type of scandal and she "mysterious" (?) died a year later when she was gaining political momentum. Some said it was food poisoning.
