I know somebody that did have some in their car, but they had them really bad in their house. They even had them on their porch. I'm not sure if they lived in the car or if a few would just hitch a ride there with the people.

Cars are usually mobile. Usually it has to be location that remains constant for cockroaches to seep in.

The configuration of the car is also made up of a lot of components. When it comes to the walls of a house, insects can follow the beams and straight, flat surfaces. A car has moving parts and it would be like trying to climb rocky terrain for an insect.

Why put all that effort when you can just head straight for the kitchen on an even flat surface?

It could also be that the gasoline fumes and exhaust could numb the senses so that they won't find any traces.
